I used to date a Chinese girl and she was horrified by Western females. Accordingly to her they were, with a small number of exceptions, e.g. all female members of this message forum, a bunch of underwashed, foul-mouthed, hairy, flatulent, gassy, harridans who couldn't cook and enjoyed beating their children in Tesco?s. No Chinaman would dream of marrying one except to obtain a passport so he could open a takeway in North London, but then immediately exchange her for a nice, obedient Chinawoman who knows what to do with blackbean sauce. I used to remain strategically neutral on the subject. Do you have this thing called 'Ladism' in the US whereby women adopt the worst characteristics of men (binge drinking, farting, not changing underwear daily etc)? Since the mid 1990s it's been a definite cultural tendency in Britain and is sometimes claimed as 'feminist' behaviour or to advance 'girl power'. I don't understand the argument myself. How is farting and beating one's children in Tesco?s an aspect of female liberation? How does letting one rip help women secure equal pay, defend them from wife-beaters, give them control of their bodies and smash the glass ceiling? ![]() |

![]() Terrible AK!! LOL Yes, that's a good term- Ladism. And it seems to be the norm here, rather than the exception. I find it a horrible behavior. Mostly done by the younger female generation. But there are females of my generation who also indulge in this type of behavior as well. Nasty! |

| I see this thread is tagged 'manners' and wish to make a further point. I was brought up to distinguish between politeness and good manners. Politeness was seen as insincere, something employed by Hyacinth Bucket... ![]() ... to make her innocuous neighbours feel inadequate. While good manners cut across all classes, races, income groups, ages, political viewpoints and religions. A Duke can have the manners of a pig, while his gardener has the most perfect manners in the world. I think problems arise when people fail to recognise the politeness-manners distinction and believe that by being 'ladish' and having a good fart, they somehow poke Hyacinth Bucket in the eye and are being 'genuine' or 'authentic' when, in fact, they're only showing they have the manners of a skunk. I bet Hangman, Warlock and Rob, for example, have perfect manners. But each can be highly impolite. That's a good thing imo. |

Agreed. Although, I'm not sure I'd agree with your definition of polite. Being polite is the application of good manners or etiquette. (So says Wiki) Something that seems to missing in this huge world of ours. |

| That could possibly be a British-US cultural difference. British people are notoriously suspicious of US 'Have a nice day!' culture, seeing it as superficial and insincere: a low paid sales assistant instructed by her manager to say 'Have a nice day!' when, in reality, she wishes a slow and painful death on all her snotty customers. Yet the British - some social classes at least - can be stiff and stand-offish, using politeness as a means to keep others at a distance. I think that's bad manners. I've met Americans who feel sorry for British people too stiff and polite to say 'I love you' to their children each day. I agree with them. But maybe I've been lucky. All the Americans I've met have had perfect manners. Maybe it's because I've never been to America, or lived in a Baghdad suburb. |

I agree totally. I can't stand the way a lot of women are today. I know a lot of the women on here swear so forgive me for the next part but when I go to do the school run and I'm standing in the school yard listening to all these women talking.. it's f'ing this, and f'ing that and it makes me cringe. I'm no prude and I don't think nobody should swear, but I do strongly believe there are times and places. Gary swears like a trouper, but to me, a woman swearing as much as he does just sounds crass. This goes for behaviour too. I thought it was just me who had a problem with women doing all that so visually and purposely in public.. but obviously not ![]() Quote:

First of all, I hate the term "equality". It doesn't exist. Men are not equal to women. Men are not equal to other men. Everyone is different. I am smarter than my neighbour. He is wealthier than me. Are we equal? No. When people talk about "equality", what they mean is being treated equally and, all things being even, having the same opportunities as everyone else. I believe that everyone should be treated equally. I believe everyone should behave well in public. Manners are about showing respect for yourself and for the people around you. Those who cannot behave properly should be taken to some isolated island in shark infested waters and abandoned. I don't care if a belch or a fart comes from a man or a woman, it's disgusting. It makes me sick - literally, sometimes. Just ask the guy six weeks ago who dropped one on the bus. Hopefully his dry-cleaning bill wasn't too substantial. What pisses me off about this equality bullshit is that most women don't seem to want it. They want all the perks of being treated equally, but they also want the special treatment they enjoyed before. They want men to pay when they go out for meals. They want men to hold doors open for them. You know what? If a man let a door smack me in the face the way a woman did recently, I would have beaten the crap out of him. But, of course, you can't hit women - they say it's worse than hitting a man in the same breath as saying they want to be treated equally. Incidentally, I don't believe in violence, but I do believe in principles and it seems strange to me that it is almost socially acceptable to punch a man if he is behaving badly, but if you even think of doing the same to a woman you're some kind of monster. Yeah, sure, if it's some dainty little creature who'd break if you smacked her, fine. There are guys like that too. However, there are women in the area where I live who I'm certain could beat the crap out of me, so why do women get special treatment in that regard? Why is is that my sister, who has had more car accidents than me since passing her driving test, pays less for her insurance when we're with the same company? Why is it that I once received a formal reprimand at work for taking a ten minute cigarette break (this was a long time ago when I still smoked) when a female colleague, on the same day, was allowed to disappear for nearly an hour because she'd forgotten to bring tampons with her to work, yet she received no reprimand or any other kind of penalty? Why is it that whilst working for the same company, I was forced to give up my desk next to the radiator in the office to sit at a desk beside a window that wouldn't close, in winter, because a female colleague complained of cold fingers? That's what pisses me off about "equality" - some women, many women, don't want it. They want a level playing field with perks. You can't have it both ways. Sorry. Either you want to be treated equally or you don't. For the record, I do know that the majority of women don't behave this way, but there are too many who do, and when you confront them about it they often make some crude statement about how if men want into their knickers they will shut up. I have a wife. I can get into her knickers whenever I want (and yes, you can take that statement both ways). And you know what, she's as pissed off with these cows who want special treatment as I am. I have actually ditched friends due to the utter crassness of their behaviour. I do swear, but never in front of children or the elderly (never in front of my own grandparents) and I can be quite lewd but likewise only with a close aquaintance or two when we're on our own. The other thing I find tastless is when a girls skirt or top has ridden up too high and is showing flesh it really shouldn't. Surely you would go to cover it? Instead of leaving it exposed! Ugh. I know sme girls who are nice girls but one of them was showing the best part of one side of her body off, as her clothes simply would not cover her, this included the top of her tights above her skirt and other stuff. Now I have nothing against those who wear clothes as they are intended really. But these were clothes that were illfitting and she was making no attempt to hide it. I have plenty of clothes I love which currently don't fit me, I wouldn't dream of wearing them until I lost weight again. There is nothing that says lack of sophistication like ill-fitting clothes, especially when effort has obviously been taken to dress. If you can buy cigarettes every day at 16 yrs old then you can afford to go to primark or mk1 and get a skirt and top that fits you and suits you. At the very least a wrap or such that covers any areas that shouldn't be on display. *odd rant over*This isn't about equality of the sexes anymore. It's about behaving whatever way you feel like and be damned with the loss of respect or the consequences of it. Total loss of inhibition or concept of shame. A girl my age had full on, naked sex on a train platform, at a manned station with someone she had just met who was waiting for a train. It's disgusting.Annakey - stop posting that picture! ewwwww We are the best, so screw the rest We do as we damn well please |
