It's an interesting story though - should it be preserved? Even though as many of you know, I'm not a fan of religion, or at least the main ones - for obvious reasons I don't mind the ones which I've never heard of as they've never rammed it down my throat and/or I've never had an argument with them about how much of a load of rubbish it is

A part of me wants it preserved for nostalgia - I don't particularly like to lose things, or to have things change. What do you think?

Well, that's how the world works. Things change. Things disappear. How many ancient religions do we not even know about, because they're long gone?

I feel for these folks, but the only way to preserve their faith would be if it remained meaningful to enough people that they practice it. If they just want to preserve their religion's artifacts and writings as a matter of historical interest, there are ways to do that, of course.

Can't they teach their children in their own homes and their beliefs and the things that go with it? Many pagans do so without any problems.. why can't these Sabian Mandaeans do the same?

Or if they want a place to worship, then why not find one? Here in the US, it's not uncommon for small churches to rent space in buildings to hold their gatherings, if they can't afford to buy a church building of their own.

Unless it's that they want the attention and validation from other people.
