Default Benefit fraudster blamed 'voodoo curse'

Lawl. No chance luv.

Benefit fraudster blamed 'voodoo curse'

A woman who scandalised a jury when she pulled two children's fingers from her handbag during her trial has been jailed for five years for a tax credit fraud which totalled nearly £1m.

Tax benefit fraud is not usually a sensational crime but the trial of Remi Fakorede was an exception.

The 47-year-old was eventually convicted of defrauding the government out of £925,000 but not before she had told a shocking story.

Maybe they can "de curse" her with a small pistol and two rounds of ammunition? I'm sure the threat of that would make her feel just dandy.

Bloody spongers treating us as fools, although I'm surprised that the court of human rights (or wrongs as I call it) hasn't got involved.

Ah, yes, the good old "voodoo curse" excuse. I must try that one sometime.

"Sorry, boss, I couldn't come into work yesterday because my Auntie cast a spell on me."

Yeah, that would go over really well.

I couldn't help laughing at this, though, from the news article:

Under English law it is illegal to carry around human body parts without good reason ....
Those lawmakers thought of everything, didn't they?

Policeman to passerby: "Pardon me, sir, I couldn't help noticing that human leg sticking out of the paper bag you're carrying. Mind telling me what it's about?"

Can someone tell me why there are so many fraudsters and scammers coming out of (or operating from) Nigeria? And don't tell me it's the whole poverty breeds desperation thing, because it seems to be prevalent in Nigeria, not other poor countries.

Do not disturb: already disturbed.

I am just speculating with this. Nigeria was one of the first African countries (aside from South Africa and the countries along the Mediterranean) to be "westernized", in large part due to the petroleum industry. So I am wondering if 1) their banking system is somehow set up in such a way that it accomodates fraudulent activities, and 2) the Nigerian culture got a good dose of "western" greed at its finest. Most Nigerians are not criminals, but the ones who are apparently have a hospitable homebase from which to operate.

Also, not all "Nigerian" fraud is perpetrated out of Nigeria. And there are plenty of fraudsters, spammers and other Internet "bad guys" operating from (or through) countries all over the world. Some countries just seem to be more amenable to supporting that kind of activity than others.

" Also, not all "Nigerian" fraud is perpetrated out of Nigeria." - an Aussie Nigerian Fraudster was charged last year.
Look up 419eater , a site many here would appreciate and find amusing.

I was going to make two posts after reading the online news just now. Then I thought these two items would go together. Finally I decided they belonged on this thread, among the people who can't take responsibility and need a god to blame their stupidity on.

Firstly, good ol' Oz has managed to convict a Muslim cleric, Abdul Benbrika, of terrorism, after he planned to blow up either a hotel during the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, or the MCG during the (Australian Rules) Football Grand Final. He really knew how to hurt us. Well, at least the rabid football fans and petrol-heads, and of course their children. The story is here.

His defence, in a brilliant tactical move which might have dangerously offended Benbrika's zealot machismo, characterised him as someone who "... could not lead ants to sugar. Couldn't organise a booze-up in a brewery let alone organise a terrorist organisation." Ah, Dinkum Aussie legalese! But sounds like just the kind of idiot who vents his frustrations by murder then lays it all on some outside power. Fortunately the man even looks like a nitwit, which gives us a chance to avoid him if sighted. To paraphrase Anthony Quinn, the Islamic fundamentalist in "Lawrence of Arabia", "Give thanks to God ... that when he made you a fool, he gave you a fool's face."

And in Sydney, a mother let her baby son die of pneumonia, according to Religious mother who refused treatment for son pleads guilty. I guess she has picked up Brownie Points in Heaven and shown the world how devout she is, and a baby's life is a small price to pay for god-games in her head. Congratulations, lady. I rank you alongside Islamic terrorists on the evolutionary scale.

We recognise other bad combinations such as driving and alcohol. Maybe we need to protect kids from the deadly mix of stupidity and religion, whether it's slow death from stupid parents or shrapnel from a jihad. Let's put it another way; if your god tells you anyone, especially kids, can die to make you feel good about your beliefs, I am fairly certain what your god's name is - it starts with SA, ends with AN and has a T in the middle.

Time to wake up to basics and remove "religious objections" as a reason not to provide medical treatment.
