Re: Museum in censorship row over Darwin sign
Spot on, Kitty! I hope people here will take it as read that when we critique god-botherers we really mean extremists and fundamentalists. The ones who declare God is a particular god of their country or town for example.
The steady stream of emails I get from U.S. sources with some sort of photo collection ending with words like "Pray to God to protect Our Great Country's Soldiers" get right up my nose on several levels.
I have had interesting discussions with Christians who are devout but at the same time broad minded and respectful of others, and have to consider that they, at least, are living the philosophy that others shout about and abuse (or like the Pharisees, stand on street corners rending their raiment). Those I respect most don't try to win me over with words, but by the example of their lives. It's a forlorn hope on their part but a good approach.
