Used to be with hostgator.. they were brilliant for about six months, then they went bad. Could be they're better now. Is that $9.99 per month?

Unfortunately, we're going to have to suffer for the moment. I might see if we're still within the money-back time... but I'm not holding out any hope.

It appears to be repaired (lest it be said that I don't provide approval when said target of bitching has resolved). I was just comiserating about hosting with Azh, via email. It's the bane of "hot new hosts" who have a great first year, start expanding, then forget the little shared-server guys who got them where they are. I get crappy server loads around this time every day, for no reason at all (at least, they lie to me about why...let me just put it that way).

Dunno if we've got the same host, but it's pretty much what we hear/see, across the board.

$9.95 a month for the middle hosting package (baby) which is quite large.

If we're within the money-back time on this host, then I'll take us over to hostgator.. if not then it's between staying here and suffering slowness or returning to site5 and suffering complete downtime for hours on end.

Just to piss you off, I have seven small sites hosted on Site5 shared hosting and I have had a total of 1 hour and 10 minutes of downtime on all the sites combined since January 2007. Most of that was due to one site (blog post) making the front page of digg.com. I still had ssh access during the outage and was able to work with their customer service to get the site back up quickly by putting up a static page for the specific URL being dugg.

They have some good servers and some with major problems, it seems to be the luck of the draw.

The server I was on (and still have until September) was psyche.. and it's abysmal. I begged them to put me on another server, but they just kept saying they couldn't at that time.. didn't matter what time it was.... but then my sites are small fry compared with yours.

those coupon codes are out of date now, won't let me use any of them.

Phillip, the host we're on currently is called A N Hosting and I want to to their servers or maybe their heads.

Yeah, that is one of the more notorious ones. What some people are doing is signing up for a new account so they get set up on one of the new servers that are provisioned at The Planet, and then transferring their site. After that, they cancel their current account and get a refund for the remaining amount of the plan.

Oh, and they aren't hosting my big stuff. They didn't have any dedicated server packages on offer at the time.

Well I spoke to A N Hosting a little earlier after watching the server load go up to 17.3 and then to 43.8! They are going to move the sites as soon as they can to another server and investigate who is causing the server loads as the server is not even 50% full and suspend their account. So let's hope this can be resolved without more shifting around!
